Snapshot of July

LOVE instagram.  I'm on there every day without fail either to upload a photo, check out everyone else's photos or both.  I think it's my most used, favourite app!

Last year I was following along with Photo a Day (where you're given a daily prompt and you then upload a photo each day that relates to that prompt).  I really enjoyed it but somewhere along the line I got slack and fell too far behind and that was the end of it.  I still love seeing everyone else's Photo a Day pics but since I've discovered I just don't have time to take a prompted or themed photo everyday I thought I'd still play along by taking at least one daily pic of something I'm doing or making or something totally random!  I figured it'd still be fun to see my collection of photos each month. :)

I started at the beginning of this month adding one insta photo a day to my handy Project 365 app...and here's a snapshot of my July!

Lots of school holiday fun, crafting, a new washing machine (YAY!), a hair cut, doctor visits, four leaf clovers and the start of our family holiday to Queenstown, New Zealand!  (I'll be back to share more about our holiday very soon.)

I'm hoping I'll find this version of photo a day easier to keep up with...fingers crossed!

Jot Mood Board Challenge 5

It's been a loooong time since I sat down to scrap.  When our Scrapz.Biz DT ended back in January I actually felt like I needed a break...and I've had a big break since then busying myself with other things like crochet and running my little etsy store.  But now I'm ready to jump back into playing with paper...I've missed it!  The new Jot Mood Board challenges have given me the perfect inspiration to get back into it. :)

So this week I've created a page for Jot Mood Board Challenge 5.  The colours are absolutely gorgeous and girly...so pretty and summery!

And here's what I came up with...

You can join in the challenge too!  Check out the details HERE.  There's a great prize up for grabs!

There's a new mood board challenge every 2 weeks so be sure to check the Jot blog regularly. :)

Also if you still haven't seen the fantastic first issue of Jot Magazine then you can read that HERE...and it's FREE!!!  You'll love it!

New Crochet Granny Square Scarf...

Around two years ago I started making a granny square blanket.  I had picked out the colours and had started making the granny squares and was getting a nice little pile together.  I was going so well until I got distracted by another project...and...that was about it.   Oops!

Anyway...yesterday I found that little pile of granny squares hidden away in my craft room.
While I've lost all motivation to finish the blanket I didn't want to throw them out either after putting all that work in...so I decided to make a scarf! It's the perfect scarf-wearing weather right now so why not?
So last night I curled up on the couch and crocheted the squares together and added a simple border around the edge.
I used 17 squares altogether and have thrown a few out that I didn't need...but now I have a new scarf!  Hubby wasn't convinced when I told him yesterday that I planned to make them into a scarf...but now that he's seen it finished he quite likes it! :)
Today I went out and about wearing my new scarf and I love it!  So lovely and warm...and bright!
It feels good to have used up those squares and that they haven't gone to waste.  Do you have a little pile of granny squares tucked away somewhere from an unfinished project?  Why not make them into a new scarf?  I'd love to see yours if you make one too!

School holiday crafting...

We've been enjoying school holidays for the last week and a bit.  We've spent a lot of time at home and it's been lovely just to hang out together...and I think the kids LOVE being able to just do their thing.  They've been amusing themselves playing outside, playing x-box, drawing, building cubby houses in the lounge room, singing and dancing and playing with friends.

Madison decided today that she wanted to make something.  So after a bit of thinking she thought a felt bunny would be fun!  Luckily I've got quite a healthy stash of felt from past projects in my craft room so she decided on colours and I drew up a quick pattern and we got started.

I helped her with the bunny face and then she got busy hand stitching the rest.  I was so proud of her!  She hasn't done a lot of stitching before but she was super keen and did a great job!

So after lots of stitching and a little bit of stuffing... this is "Pinky" the bunny!  Pretty cute huh?

She's now getting lots of playtime and Madi's pretty happy that she made her own toy.  She wants to make another one tomorrow! :)
