Follow your bliss...

Round 5 of the Scrap That Ad comp is underway over at Scrapz.Biz. This week's inspiration comes from the Dove Evolution ad...the one where they take an ordinary girl, photograph her and then digitally enhance and alter her image for a billboard. (You can view the ad and criteria for this round HERE.)
So....I created my sample layout as a message to Madison to be proud of who she is and be true to herself as she grows up...
Here's a closeup...

If you'd like to see the fabulous samples the other DT girls came up with you can see them in the gallery HERE.

There's only one more round to go for this comp which will go up next Monday...but you can still enter if you'd like the chance to win some awesome prizes! (Check out the prize details HERE. Entries close 19 September 2010.)

No More Excuses...

Do you remember those classic 'Life Be In It' ads from way back in the 80's? Well one of those ads is our inspiration for Round 4 of the Scrap That Ad comp over at Scrapz.Biz. (You can find all the details of the challenge and watch the ad HERE.)

Here's the sample page that I came up with...

The title says it all! LOL I'm determined to stick at my exercise routine so I feel better and fitter by summer...so far so good!

Sorry I don't have more to share just now but I'll have more soon! Amongst other things I've been working on that granny stripe blanket that I started for Ayden a little while ago... it's very time consuming! :D I'd really like to get it finished before the hot, summery weather kicks in.

Thanks so much for popping by!

Oh Madi!

I'd like to say a big thank you so much for all of your well wishes for Riley. He's feeling great now and went back to school today. So good to have him back to his old self. :) It was so cute to see all his friends welcoming him back to class this morning.

Now for some scrapping... It's time for round 3 of 'Scrap That Ad' over at Scrapz.Biz. (Details can be found HERE.) This week's ad inspiration is the yellow pages ad with the catchphrase "Not Happy Jan!"...funny ad that one. :)

So here's my page sample...

The journalling reads, "I was wondering why you were being so quiet! For some reason you thought that drawing on the cushion in the lounge room with permanent black pen was a fun idea. NOT HAPPY MADI!!!" (I was a very cranky mumma that day! LOL)

I've used Crate Paper Brook papers and chipboard, Martha Stewart paper doilies, an October Afternoon doily stamp, some Jenni Bowlin butterflies & alphas and some Thickers.

A couple of closeups...

You can see what the other DT girls came up with too in the gallery.

Just a quick post tonight. I'm going make myself a cuppa, curl up on the couch and watch some tv...not that there's much on! LOL

Hope you're having a great week!

Riley's asthma scare...

We've just had a long, scary few days that I hope we never have to go through again...

Friday morning I took Riley to the doctor. He wasn't well and we thought maybe he had a chest infection. As soon as the doctor listened to his chest he sent us straight to Emergency at our local hospital. In the 5 minute drive from the doctor to the hospital Riley fell asleep and I couldn't wake him up. I carried him inside with Madi and Ayden in tow (I was freaking out and bursting into tears by this stage) and they took us straight through. He was barely breathing! They managed to bring him round and went to work on him with oxygen, drugs, etc....apparently he had a viral infection that triggered an asthma attack! (We didn't know he had asthma...it was VERY scary!!!) Poor little man...

He tried so hard to be brave! He had a couple of iv's put in and had to cope with having oxygen masks, etc which he'd never seen before. I had to call Paul home as he was working 2 1/2 hours drive away. While we waited for him to arrive my Dad came to pick up Madi and Ayden to take them home and the doctor decided we needed to be transferred to the Mater Children's Hospital in Brisbane (about an hour away). So Riley got his first ride in an ambulance and we ended up in the Paediatric ICU for the night. He was a very sick little boy but all the nurses and doctors who looked after him were amazing. Here he is the next morning just before we were transferred from ICU to the ward....poor little sweetie!

He had to stay on oxygen (he needed lots) the whole time to keep his levels right (along with Ventolin, etc).

To cheer him up Paul went and bought him a Nintendo DS on Saturday before he came back to see us. Riley's been saving his pocket money for AGES to buy one and he was over the moon!!! (Here he is the morning we were going home...and looking a whole lot better!)

It really helped put a smile on his face and he didn't stop playing it the whole time we were there.

We came home on Monday afternoon once he was able to come off the oxygen and he'll be home the rest of the week. As least we now know that he has asthma and we have a treatment plan to hopefully keep it under control from now on. We're so happy to have him home again and feeling like his old self!

Ok...now that I've got that all down I do have a layout to share while I'm here...

Round 2 of the Scrap That Ad comp is up over at Scrapz.Biz. (Details can be found HERE.) This one's based on the Vegemite Ad....which worked out well since I'd been meaning to scrap about Riley's love for the stuff for ages! Here's my sample...
And some closeups...

Well...I think this post is long enough and I'm tired. Hope you're having a great week! :)

A bit of this and that...

Hi everyone!

Can you believe it's August already? Where has the year gone? We're having such a beautiful, sunny day here today. You'd think it was spring already...we're even wearing short sleeves!

I've got a few things to share today...

The Scrap That Ad comp starts today over at Scrapz Biz and challenge 1 has gone up. (If you'd like to join in you can find the challenge 1 details HERE.) Here's my sample...

These are all photos from our recent holiday to Mallacoota. It's like a little overview of our stay.

I used Echo Park Sweet Summertime stickers, Basic Grey alphas, October Afternoon number stickers and hand-cut the water and little birds in the sky.

It's been really fun to see how differently each of the DT girls have interpreted the challenge and I can't wait to see all the entries rolling in! Round 2 of the comp will go up on Monday 9 August.

Last night I actually sat down and scrapped just for the fun of it! It's been AGES since I've done that...no deadlines or guidelines...just to play. I've had this pic of Ayden and Madi (she's so little!) sitting on my desk for a LONG time and I'm really happy to finally have it scrapped.

I've used some Little Yellow Bicycle Clothesline papers and stickers, some Prima roses (my faves), an old Heidi Swapp ghost heart, a Jenni Bowlin butterfly and Thickers. I had a play with my new Maya Road Mist too for the background...such a pretty colour!

During the week I was very excited to finally sit down at my sewing machine and try a project out of Janelle's book...the iPhone cover!

Here's a peek at the back...

I'm so happy with how it turned out! I'll be making some more of these for sure. They're a great gift idea don't you think?

Well I think that's about all I've got to share at the moment. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for dropping by!!
