A quick catchup, a granny stripe blanket and the show...

About time I did a blog post! I didn't realise how long it had been...things have been so busy here lately! Ok...so I'll try and keep it brief and give you a little catchup on what we've been up to lately...

The boys had their end of term "Glow in the Dark" disco at school. They were super keen to get there...we lined up for ages to get in! So many people turned up which was awesome for fundraising! We finally got in... headed straight to the glowstick stand to stock up on flashing, glowing stuff....then about 20 mins later the boys declared it "super boring" since all there was to do was dance! LOL So...after all that we ended up heading home early waving our glowsticks all the way.

Ayden and Riley got their mid year school reports and I have to say Paul and I are very proud of both of them! They're both doing such a great job...and they're enjoying school too which is fantastic.

Paul has been REALLY busy with work...but now has a couple of weeks off...and boy does he need it! I hope he can take time out and recharge his batteries.

Madi is thoroughly enjoying having the boys home to play with now that the school holidays are here! (She's going to miss them terribly when they go back to school again.)

I've started a new blanket for Ayden this week. I've been trying to decide what type of blanket to make but when I saw Melissa's blogpost about her granny stripe blanket HERE I was good to go! Ayden chose the colours and I've only done a few rows so far...but it'll grow! It's a lot wider that what the pic shows...and I'm going to add those two greens in next...
The tutorial for the Granny Stripe blanket that I used can be found HERE.

On the weekend we took the kids to our local show. They had SO much fun! We saw lots of animals, bought showbags, saw a puppet show, had some rides, but my absolutely favourite part was the REAL fairy floss on a stick! You know the kind that's spun right in front of you...so YUM! Not like that stuff you get in the bag. I haven't had real fairy floss like that since I was little...so fun! I snapped a few pics...they're not the greatest since I only took my point-&-shoot camera but at least I got some!

Big excitement when we saw the showbag stands! LOL
We found the big poster that all the Prep classes created together at school to enter into the show competition....and it had won first place! Riley was very excited! The poster is their version of the show...Riley worked on the fireworks up in the top right corner.

We had to have a go on the dodgem cars (their fave ride). It was Ayden's first time driving on his own which he thought was very cool! So funny to watch the serious look on his face the whole time. He didn't crack a smile til it was almost over! LOL

Paul took Riley at the same time so they could bump into each other...

Then while we were waiting for the boys to finish their ride Madi decided she wanted a go too! She was SO excited standing there holding her ticket...

And you couldn't wipe the grin off her face the whole ride!

It was a great day...a fun way to start the school holidays!

Sorry...nothing scrappy to share this time. I've been working on some DT projects but can't share just yet.

I'll try not to leave it so long between posts this time...but I have a feeling it's going to be a busy two weeks with Paul and the boys at home! It'll be so nice to just enjoy some family time together. :)

Thanks for dropping by!

More hats and a sketch...

I've been making more hats over the past week...this time for this beautiful friend's girls. I used the same pattern as I did for Madi's hat a few posts ago, but this time used a different flower pattern from HERE and added some leaves from a pattern I found HERE. I'm really happy with how they turned out...I hope the girls like them too!

I'm going to have to make Madi a red one like this too I think. :) She loves it.
This week's challenges have gone up over at Scrapz.Biz. It was my turn to set the sketch challenge (details can be found HERE).
Here's my sample page...
I used a Martha Stewart Chrysanthemum punch, with a punched circle and a button to make the sun...
And made my own little kite...

I headed into the Scrapbook Convention in Brisbane this last weekend with Mum and Mel. We had lots of fun, bought some lovely new goodies, ran into some friends...but didn't take one pic! Oh well...there's always next year. :)
We also took the kids to see Shrek 4 in 3D on Sunday. They loved it! It was fantastic to watch it in 3D. I've gotta say though...it's getting SO expensive to take the whole family to the cinema these days!
Well...I hope you're having a great week! The boys have their end of term school disco this afternoon with a 'Glow in the Dark' theme....they can't wait! Not sure how much dancing they'll actually do but I'm sure they'll have fun playing with the glowsticks! LOL

A fantastic new class...

We've got a gorgeous new class open for registration over at the @Home site! You'll love it! It's so full of creative ideas and inspiration from the very talented Gigi Kennedy. I had so much fun creating samples for this one. Here's what Kim has to say about it...

Here @Home we're thrilled to welcome Gigi from New York City as a Guest Tutor in her first online class with us called Crepe Paper, Ribbon and Trims.
It's truly a beautifully designed class loaded with ideas, techniques, samples and style!

Gigi shows us how to incorporate trim and ribbons into our work as well as guide us step by step in how to add a crepe paper photo frame to your page.

This class is loaded up with content, and we wanted to unveil each little tidbit progressively over a number of days so you have time to read and absorb and try the ideas rather than be hit with a whole lot of content in one big hit! There's TWO layout step by step projects, mini projects, samples, tips and techniques and lots of Support Team samples as well.

The class will run from 22-26 June 2010 with daily uploads and the classroom will then remain open until 1 August 2010.

You can read more about the class here.

And more about Gigi here.

Oh and for blog readers we have a special EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT OFFER. Use the code GIGIFREE in the left hand side Redemption Code area as you go through checkout to receive a $5 discount on your workshop fee. The offer expires 23 June 2010 so hurry to take advantage of the discounted price.

If you'd like to register for this class just click HERE and don't forget to use that discount code to get your $5 discount! :)

Happy mail and some scrapping...

I've been doing a LOT of ooohhhing and aaaahhhing over the past couple of days....Janelle's new book finally arrived on my doorstep!

There are so many beautiful projects in it I just don't know what to make first! I think a bit of shopping for lovely new fabrics is in order...until then I'll just keep flipping through those gorgeous pages. :) If you'd like your own copy you can get it HERE. :)

The new weekly challenges are up over at Scrapz.Biz. This time I've set the What's Cooking challenge (details can be found HERE). Here's my sample...

Love these pics of Madi! They were taken about a year and a half ago now...but she still loves it when it rains just so she can get to use her umbrella!

Gotta love this cute My Minds Eye die cut umbrella. :)
Hope you're managing to stay warm wherever you are! Winter is setting in here on the coast...I can only imagine how cold it is for you girls down south! Brrrrr....

I'm tired...off to bed for me. :) Thanks so much for stopping by!

Back to some scrapping...

Hi everyone! I've got a couple of shares today...

First up is my layout from the Scrap It Blind challenge that I set last week (now that everyone's entries are in!) over at Scrapz.Biz. (If you've never done one of these challenges you should give it a go! You create a layout using a set of instructions but you don't actually get to see a pic of the layout...so fun to see how everyone's pages turn out!) Anyway...here it is...

(I'm seriously loving October Afternoon's new ranges...aren't you? They're so gorgeous!!!)

This week I've set the Noteworthy challenge to create a card with a little sunshine on it. (Details can be found HERE.) Here are my samples...

I used chalks to create the background and stamped some grass using a Hero Arts stamp. The bee and those cute trees are stickers (American Crafts Dear Lizzy) and the sun is made using a October Afternoon Fly A Kite word sticker and tiny strips of paper.

I used up lots of scraps in my next card...
I didn't realise I had so many yellow papers until I started searching! This was a lot of fun to put together. :)I curved my clear sentiment stamp (by Hero Arts) on this one...love how you can do that with clear stamps!

Well...that's about it for now I think...but before I go thank you so much for all the lovely comments you left on my last post! (You girls really are the sweetest! xx) I've still got my crochet hook out working on a few other things all at once now...I can't stop! LOL If any of you are working on any little crochet projects I'd love to see them! :)
