Xmas in July Cuttlebug Cards... and my Mum's Big Night...

Hi there! How's things? It's been busy, busy around here... which is why I haven't posted for a while. Ooops! So... time for a quick catch up...

First up is my Christmas in July Cuttlebug card class from last Sunday. I must admit it was a little tricky to get my head around Christmas cards at this time of the year... but this is what I came up with using some of the Kaiser paper from last year...

Also last week we headed up to my Mum and Dad's place for a very special event. My Mum's graduation night! After doing Family Day Care for well over 20 years, she went ahead and completed her Certificate II in Community Services Work and Certificate III in Children's Services! This was such a big thing for her to do (she was so scared of all that study and doing assignments and exams!)... and I'm so unbelievable proud of her for hanging in there. Dad was such a great support to her through the entire thing and had complete faith in her (I did too!).

The funny thing is though that they were all told that the government were going to make it compulsory for all Day Carers to have this qualification under their belt which is the only reason why Mum went back to study for this... but now that she's done it the government have changed their minds and they don't need it! LOL... Oh well - she can be proud to have these certificates to her name now... although I'm sure that after over 36 years of looking after children she wouldn't have learned anything she didn't already know! Here are a few pics from the big night...
Mum, me, my brother Mick, his girlfriend Brenda, my brother Steve & Dad...

Mum's big moment...

There it is! What she worked so hard for...

Did I mention how much she hates having her photo taken? I took SO many pics that night...hee hee hee... she'll be all embarrassed that I've posted these ones here... but hey she should be proud!!! (Love ya Mum!)

Before I go have you been over to Scrapz.Biz for a look? The forum officially kicks off on 1 August but there's already been lots of chat and new faces popping in there, competitions are about to kick off and the shop is full of great stuff and really competitive prices... it's well worth the look. Come on over and say hi!

Take care and thanks so much for dropping by!

Blanket progress... and a layout share

The holidays are over already! Ayden's back at school and Riley's looking forward to kindy again in the morning. I think Madi will find it strange to be the only one home with Mum tomorrow.

We spent the last week of the holidays visiting my parents. The kids played all day every day and didn't want to come home! Since we were away I didn't get much done in the way of scrapping, but I did take my blanket with me to work on and I can't believe how fast it's grew while I was there!!

I just need to do another band of red and maybe a couple of rows of white to finish it off. Now that I'm home I'm not sure just how long that will take me! LOL... It's been fun trying something a little different. (Mum's blanket is coming along nicely too!)

Before I go... here's a layout that appeared in Scrapbooking Memories a couple of months back.

Wow... just look at how little Madi is in those pics!!! Time sure does fly by doesn't it?

I think that's about all I've got to share at the moment... sorry... boring I know!

Hope you're enjoying your week!

School holiday fun and a Lollipop Flower Bag...

We're right in the middle of school holidays here and while we haven't really planned anything, the kids are all having a great time together just hanging out. We've been to the movies to see "Night At The Museum 2" and no doubt we'll be heading back there to see another movie or two. The boys have been doing lots of this...

(Normally they'd have helmets on but they didn't want them on for the photos... can't imagine why? LOL) Riley's really growing in confidence on his scooter now and Ayden loves whizzing around on his.

Yesterday while I was ironing, Madi walked past me with an arm full of things on her way to the backyard announcing that she was 'going to the beach!' After I'd finished what I was doing I poked my head out the door to find her like this...
Too funny! I had to laugh when I saw her... there she was with everything you need for a lovely day at the beach! She had her towel, her drink, her bag, and of course her binoculars!
She's such a crack up!!! Little cutie...

I'm afraid on the scrapping side of things I haven't done anything over the past week. I've been too busy working on my new blanket project... but I did squeeze in a little sewing too. I had another little birthday gift to make. I'd already made this birthday girl's sisters a bag each for their birthdays over the last few weeks, so I had to come up with a different design for her. In the end I came up with this...

It's inspired by Janelle's gorgeous 'Candy Girl' quilt design. I'm about to have a go at making the quilt (my first ever... I'm a little scared! LOL) and thought it would be great practice as the flowers are all hand sewn (appliqued) onto the fabric which I've never done before. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! When Madi saw me making it she loved it so I ended up making one for her too.
Well, I can feel the cold creeping into the house now...definitely time for a nice hot cuppa. Have a great week!
