SM (Vol10 No 2) & Under 8's week...

Hi everyone!! Another week has flashed on by.... it's hard to keep up! Nothing too spectacular has been happening... just the usual school runs and so on... but I feel like I've been rushed off my feet!
First of all, here's a layout that's appearing in the latest Scrapbooking Memories...
This is my gorgeous niece Taylah-Jaide (*hi Taye!!!!*) I just love this beautiful photo of her!

This week at school they celebrated "Under 8's Week". On Wednesday they had a big morning of fun and activities and I went along with Madi & Riley to join in the festivities with Ayden. There were so many things to do.... painting, construction, door hangers, sand castle building, face painting, beading... all sorts of things! They also got to see and climb all through a police car and of course all the kids loved hearing the siren go off! All of this was followed by a Teddy Bear's Picnic (luckily the rain held off) and Ayden was so excited to be able to take his Mickey to school for the day. Here's a few photos I took throughout the morning...

All the kids were given a little tag (pinned to Ayden's shirt) to collect a stamp from each activity that they visited during the morning. Ayden ended up filling his with one to spare... we just ran out of time to get that last stamp! He had a great, fun time though and really enjoyed it.... and Riley loved it too! (I have to admit though I was glad to get home... it was tricky trying to keep Madi happy in the pram all morning! There were so many kids and so much going on I couldn't just let her roam - it was hard enough keeping track of Riley and Ayden! So by the end of it she had really had enough... and so had I! LOL)
It sounds like it's going to be quite a wet weekend here! It's been cold and raining for the last couple of days already. Not sure yet how I'll entertain the kids so they don't start climbing the walls.... I'm sure I'll think of something! So nice to get some rain though...
Have a fantastic weekend - whatever you may have planned! Thanks for dropping by!

Some scrapping and our weekend with Tubbs...

So how is everyone? Great I hope! All is well here at our place... the kids are sound asleep, Paul's glued to the tv watching State of Origin (Qld really not doing so well though) and I've just finished my two huge baskets of ironing (phew!)... the rest of the night is mine! LOL!

Thought I'd share this layout I did the other night...

I don't think you'll be able to read the journalling but each little strip lists little things like lot of smiles, enjoying tummy time, no more splint.... things about Madi at 2 months old.

I had another Scrap-a-Sketch class today. Here's one of my examples... (silly me forgot to scan my other layout so I'll have to share that one another day...)

(This is Paul attacking the kids' totem tennis in the backyard with the plastic baseball bat... the boys loved it of course and I must admit it made me giggle to watch him. He's such a big kid sometimes! )

I've been looking around for a while now for a brand new camera. I've really been wanting a digital SLR... never had one before... and now I'VE GOT ONE!!! Woohoo!!! It's a Nikon D60 and I've been having so much fun playing with it! The kids are sick of me chasing them around the house trying to take their photo... It came with a 8GB memory card so I can literally take thousands of photos without having to download... perfect for when we go away on holidays! So now I've got lots of learning to do, but I'll be enjoying every minute! (Thanks Paul... I feel very spoiled!)

This weekend just gone turned out to be a busy one for us. Ayden came home from school on Friday afternoon with the class 'pet'... a stuffed cat called Tubbs. Every weekend one of the kids gets to take him home and then they have to complete a page in the book about their adventures over the weekend. Ayden was soooo excited to finally have his turn. He made Tubbs a special bed to sleep in ... very cute... we took a couple of photos... then Saturday we had our big day out with Tubbs.
We started off with a walk to the lake around the corner. Tubbs rode with Ayden on his bike and when we got there we fed the ducks. Then we headed on down to Careflight (where Paul works) because we just had to show Tubbs the helicopters and get some pics of him there! Lunch was next on the agenda, so we decided on fish and chips at Burleigh beach. It was a little chilly in the breeze, but it was so nice in the sunshine. The kids had a ball playing in the park and climbing some trees, then it was time for home again. All in all I think Tubbs had a pretty good time! LOL! I know Ayden thoroughly enjoyed it... and it ended up being a lovely day out for all of us.

Well, that's it from me for the moment. I just got my Scrapbook Creations mag in the post today so I'm heading to the couch for a little browse before bedtime. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Mother's Day, Madi's Handbag & Some Layouts...

Time for another blog post! I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day weekend! Paul got home on Friday after being away for another week at Horn Island... I was so happy to have him home again (and so were the kids!) but he had to work on Mother's Day which was a bit of a shame... but I still had a great day! I woke up to a snuggly cuddle and gorgeous smile from my messy haired girl, followed by more cuddles from the boys. Paul made pancakes... so yummy... and I was spoiled with some lovely pressies too! Some new storage drawers on wheels for my scrapping, a beautiful ring, some gorgeous body lotion and soap (which smells almost good enough to eat).... and Ayden very proudly gave me two little gifts he had bought at the Mother's Day stall at school... a marigold plant and a silver bracelet! It's amazing what $5 buys you these days! LOL! After Paul headed off to work I packed the kids up and drove up to Mum & Dad's place for the day. Both my brothers came over too, we had a BBQ and it was lovely all being together for the day - just a shame Paul couldn't make it! We did take some photos but they're on Dad's camera... still have to get them from him...

Madi's taken a liking to her little handbags lately and I just couldn't resist snapping a few pics the other day. She's really hard to photograph at the moment because as soon as she sees me with the camera she runs straight at me wanting to see the screen on the back of it! Here's a couple I managed to sneak in...

She knows now when we're going out and points to my bag on the bench to make sure I don't forget it and then she'll appear out of nowhere with hers on her arm ready for the outing too. It really is the cutest thing!

Before I go here are a couple of layouts I've done recently...

This is Paul's Grandma (one of Madi's Great Grandparents) meeting Madi for the very first time last year. Can you believe she's 91 years old?

(Sorry...this layout has been removed
for publication. Look out for it in an upcoming issue of
Scrapbooking Memories!)

I love these photos of Madi... but she really can't resist eating the sand every time we go to the beach! EWWWW!!! I hope she grows out of that habit before next summer....

So that's it from me tonight. I'm off to scrap!

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea...

I've just spent a lovely afternoon at school with Ayden is his classroom...

All the Mum's were invited to attend a special Mother's Day Afternoon Tea today and we were treated to some beautiful Mother's Day songs (Ayden had been practicing the songs at home over the past week or two... very cute!), then we all headed over to the tables to draw a picture together... We were then served some special Mother's Day chocolate biscuits that the kids had made at school along with a nice hot cuppa. I must say the bikkies were yummo!

All the kids had also written a description of their Mum's which were hung around the room (without their names attached) and we had to try and guess which one was us. After a bit of searching I finally found mine....apparently I have brown hair (?), green eyes, wear pj's with love hearts & diamonds (?), give him Weetbix out of the box for breakfast, make him transformers and pictures, I am beautiful and he loves me very much! LOL! So sweet and funny! The brown hair threw me when I first started reading it, and the pj's since I don't own any with love hearts and diamonds on them.... but the Weetbix and transformers gave it away!

We then all sat down together and were presented with a beautiful card that each child had made for their Mums. Here's mine... I LOVE it!

Before we knew the bell was ringing and it was time for home. A big thank you to Ms Taylor and the rest of the staff who organised this lovely day... it was so much fun!

I took the kids up to stay with Mum & Dad over the long weekend. It was great just to kick back and relax and the boys got to catch up with their cousins too. Madi has really become a Grandpa's girl! Until recently she just wasn't sure about Grandpa and usually liked to keep her distance but now she runs up to him for cuddles all the time! She certainly kept him busy this last weekend with toys and books and things... and he loved it of course!

We've all starting to come down with colds at the moment. I guess it is that time of year after all, but it still makes life a little more frustrating. I'm hoping they don't hang around for long...

That's about it from me, but before I go here are a couple of layouts that are in the latest issue of Scrapbooking Memories...
I got my copy in the letter box today, so I know what I'll be doing tonight...curling up on the couch in my pj's with a hot cuppa in one hand and my magazine in the other!
