This week....

Well, we've been having a lovely time staying at Mum & Dad's place. The boys have had a blast playing with the kids that Mum looks after and swimming in the pool!

Last Friday we headed over to the Jacaranda Festival to watch my little niece dance on stage. She's only 8 but wow she gives an amazing performance every time. I haven't seen her dance since last year and when I saw her come out on stage I have to admit I found myself grinning from ear to ear with a tear in my eye!! (I'm really proud of her!) From the moment she comes out on stage with the other girls she is just beaming and she makes it looks so easy.... she really loves to dance! I'm so glad I was able to get there to see it all....

Saturday we drove back down the coast for the day to Burleigh Beach for little Xayn's 1st birthday (my brother's girlfriend's little boy). It was a gorgeous day down there and the boys always love getting to the beach... although I they ended up in the playground there instead of the water! Lots of fun....

Sunday Mum & I headed in to the Quilt & Craft show in Brissie. For a while we didn't think we were going to get there as Paul didn't get home from work until the afternoon, but we made it in there with a couple of hours to spare. I managed to get some yummy new products that I'd been after so I came home feeling quite happy with myself!

That pretty much sums up the last week or so.... It looks like we'll be moving into our new place around 7 November. Can't wait to get unpacked and back to normal again... I need my scraproom back!!!!

I'll try and put some pics in with my next post. Hope everyone is having an awesome week!

Things are settling down...

Well, we've had time to breathe now and things are starting to settle down. Everyone has been so fantastic and helpful after our little crisis spin-out last week. The real estate agent has found us a place to live ($50 per week more than we were paying but in a great area), and everyone who Paul works with have welcomed him back with open arms. Makes us feel all warm and fuzzy....

Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave comments and well wishes here on my blog. It really means a lot and you are all sooooo supportive and encouraging.... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Isn't this blog world wonderful?

We're staying at Mum and Dad's place for a couple of weeks until we move into our new house - it becomes available around the 5 November so we'll be moving in around then. I'm dreading the whole 'unpacking' thing but can't wait to get settled and get life back to normal.

Can you believe that on Monday the company called Paul again and said "It's all back on now" and wanted him to go ahead as planned?!! We had already gone into crisis mode, found a new house, Paul had asked for his old job back and they expected us to just drop everything again to move to Mackay?! Well - it was kind of an agonising decision with so much money being offered but in the end we just decided to cut ties with them and stay right where we are. What a rollercoaster ride this last week has been! But we're happy with our decision and we'll just have to make the most of what money we do have coming in now - it'll be tricky paying more rent now being on the same money as before but I'm sure we'll work through it...

So anyway - we're going to enjoy our little holiday visiting 'Nanna V & Grandpa' then we'll be into our new place before we know it.... Hope everyone is having a great week!

Take care everyone!

AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I REALLY NEED TO HAVE A BIG WHINGE!!!!! I can't believe what has just happened.....

Things have been really hectic here this week getting ready for our big move (that's why I haven't done an entry lately - sorry!)! We've got the removalist coming on Friday to pack up our stuff ready to go.... and today we get a phone call..... apparently negotiations had fallen through with Paul's new boss and the previous owner of the company so now Paul's contract won't be going ahead....WE'RE NOT GOING TO MACKAY!!!!! TWO DAYS BEFORE OUR REMOVALIST IS COMING THEY TELL US THIS!!!!!! I could just SCREAM!!!! Did noone think it might be a good idea to tell us that the whole deal wasn't guaranteed weeks ago when we were making the big decision to take the job - as far as we knew everything was going ahead and we had no reason to think otherwise!

So now we have to move out of our house with no other house to move into... (they've already rented out this house to other tenants)..... we now can't afford to rent another house in this area because rents have gone up so much over the past year so we have to figure out where we'll be able to move to and find another house..... We've already pulled Ayden out of kindy because we thought we were moving .... we had to pay an extra week's rent for breaking our lease.... we'll have to pay connection fees again for phone and electricity..... all our furniture is going to have to go into storage until we find another place..... I just can't believe the curve ball we've just been thrown....

At least Paul's old employer has been fantastic and allowed him to have his job back here. (Poor Paul - he feels terrible for stuffing them around by resigning and then asking for his job back but they really have been wonderful to him and he does love working with everyone there...)

We're both feeling a bit numb at the moment and still in disbelief..... regardless we still have to get organised for the removalist on Friday so tomorrow will be a busy day. We're going to go and stay at my Mum & Dad's place in Brissie until we can sort ourselves out and get a new place. (Thanks Mum & Dad - what would we do without you?)

Thanks for letting me vent! Hope everyone else's week is going a lot better than ours!!

Here's a few more...

Here's a few more layouts I've done recently. Ayden hasn't quite mastered the word 'spaghetti' yet and calls it 'forghetti'! Of course I had to scrap it....

I sat down with Ayden and asked him what he wanted to do when he grows up. It's so funny the things they come out with! I think my favourite was "Drive a car; a caterpillar car with lots of seats so everyone can fit in", or "be like a tree frog and climb with sticky hands"......funny boy!

And there's this one of Paul and the boys. I've had these photos for ages! They were taken last year when we were living up in Cannonvale. Go glad I've finally scrapped them...

It's been a bit busy here the last few days. There's so much to organise when you move! Just to add to the madness, today we had prospective tenants come and do an inspection.... had to spend the whole morning cleaning and making the place look presentable, all for a 10 minute inspection! At least it's over and done with now, and hey the place looks so neat and tidy!

Leanne popped over this afternoon for a cuppa. Great to catch up! I've been doing a big clean out of my scrapping stash and off-loaded a pile of goodies to her. (I'm expecting to see some layouts soon Leanne!) Feels great to get rid of stuff I've been hoarding for ages.

Better go - Prison Break has started! Time to grab a cuppa...have a great evening everyone!

A few more layouts.....

Thought I'd share a few more layouts....

I took this pic of Riley and I myself just holding the camera out in front of us - I was surprised how well it turned out! Lately he's been running a mile when he sees the camera come out...

I wouldn't normally do a layout about a snail but I just had to record the conversation I had with Ayden after he brought one inside to show me...

I love, love, LOVE this pic of Riley! It was taken about a year ago but it captures his personality perfectly - full of mischief and always looking for fun...

We took the kids to the beach yesterday and they had a great time. We went early morning before it got too hot. The water was freezing when you first got in but after a while it was lovely.

Madi LOVES being on the sand but she just can't help herself - she's gotta eat it! Ewwww! I guess she doesn't have any teeth to crunch on it yet.... still... it's gross!

The boys have a ball in the water. They stay in there for ages - it's hard to get them outta there sometimes!

Other than that, not much else has been happening this weekend. We're starting to pack up a bit, and clean out some stuff - good excuse to get rid of things! I did start some Christmas shopping today... I know noone wants to think about it yet, but I like to start early so I'm not rushing around at the last minute! It's a good time to pick up some gorgeous decorations now too before all the nice ones disappear...

Well... hope you've all had a great weekend!

Some layouts and some big news...

Yay! I can finally share some of the layouts I've done over the past weeks! These were all for Seriously Scrapbooks...

Love this pic of Madi sleeping - so cute!

I've had this photo of Riley sitting around for AGES and finally got around to scrapping it...he was so adorable!

And there's this one of my Mum surrounded by her grandkids (and absolutely loving it!). I don't really like how this turned out.... it looked so much nicer in my head! (Hate it when that happens!)

On the home front we've got some pretty big news. We're moving AGAIN!!! As much as we love it here on the Gold Coast and didn't want to move again, we've found it so hard to get into the housing market. We took a pay cut to move here and it's just not working for us. So when Paul was offered a job (by his old employer up north) it was an opportunity too good to pass up. So... we're heading back up north this time to Mackay! We know the place fairly well because we used to head down there from Airlie Beach for shopping and stuff. Paul will be Chief Pilot this time which will be fantastic experience for him and he's also been offered an instructor's rating as part of the package as well. The extra money will be awesome and we're hoping to really make the most of this move and save, save, save like crazy! Hopefully it'll put us into a much better financial position. We'd love to move back down here eventually - we do enjoy living here and my family are all around Brisbane too - that'll be the worst thing about leaving again... being away from family.(*sniff* *sob*) (And of course.... I'm gonna miss you Leanne!!! Just when I meet a lovely friend like you we up and move! Sorry!) Another down-side is that I've had to resign from my DT position with Seriously Scrapbooks (boo hoo) - a real bummer 'cause I've really enjoyed it.

Paul starts work up there on 25th of this month so we're busy at the moment getting organised for the move. I really HATE packing!!! (I hate unpacking even more!) And I'll be glad when it's all over and done with. At least we should be all settled before Ayden starts school next year.

Well, this post has turned out to be extremely long!! Wasn't planning on that but just couldn't stop typing! Hope everyone has a great evening!

Madi's Crawling!!! (And about our trip...)

FINALLY! I've got a few minutes to add another post... It's been so busy since we got back! Before I write about our holiday I just wanted to say.... it's official!!!! Madison has started to crawl!! She hasn't quite realised she's doing it yet but in a couple of days there'll be no stopping her... I'm going to have to do the rounds and get everything up out of reach..... She's 8 months now would you believe?

Now... about our holiday....this could be a little like a novel - just a warning in advance! So where do I start........

We decided to take the kids on a trip down south to visit Paul's grandparents in Sydney and Paul's parents in Mallacoota. None of them had had the chance to meet Madison yet and it had been over a year since we'd been down there, plus Paul's Mum just turned 60!

The first leg of the trip went pretty well. We left about midnight so the kids could sleep for a big chunk of the time. We were really surprised at how well they travelled.... that was until Ayden started complaining of a sore
ear!!!! Poor little man was crying in pain... luckily I had some Nurofen in the car which helped a bit. We called ahead and Paul's Nan managed to get us an appointment with her Doctor. We did a brief stop at Paul's Grandma Rose's place on the way through. She's 91 now and she looks really well. It was lovely for her to see the kids and Paul of course! We left her place and it was off to the Doctor, then finally over to Paul's Nan & Pop's place.

We stayed there for a few nights and had a lovely time. It's always fun catching up with Paul's Nan & Pop - they're such beautiful people! They'd been having trouble with their TV reception so Paul installed a set top box for them - now they can watch their shows with a crystal clear picture! Nan's quite chuffed about it and Pop could'nt wait to watch the football... Aunty Ann, Uncle Jeff and Shelley came over one night for a BBQ too. Ayden just loves Shelley... he was so funny - he went all gooey and started calling her "fly girl" (we have no idea why) and blowing her kisses! So great to catch up with them all...

Next we were off to Mallacoota and the kids were fantastic in the car! It was just wonderful to see Paul's Mum and Dad after so long. There were lots of kisses and cuddles all round. We had so much catching up to do! We stayed for about 6 nights and did lots of walks
to the park, went to beach (it was chilly but when the sun came out it was quite nice) and just enjoyed spending time there. On the last day we went for a picnic to Sandy Point and the boys had a go at fishing - they didn't catch anything but had loads of fun trying! The time seemed to go so fast - it always does when you're on holiday I guess. The marathon trip home was ok (it took 2 days), but the kids (and us!) were certainly over it by the time we got home!

I've got lots of great pics to share - too many to add in to this post - but I might share a few of my favourites over the next few posts....

If you've actually stuck around and read all of this...WOW! Thanks for hanging in there! I think this post is long enough.... that's it from me tonight... I'm off to scrap!
